Here is the most popular platform for automated Forex Trading.  What is the deal with automated Forex Trading?  Well, with this platform called Meta Trader its on version four as of this recording and they actually have that version five coming out soon.  This platform has been widely distributed, because largely it was free and it has a lot of people - a lot of programmers following.  It has a lot of people who are into this platform, because of the momentum created behind it.  It gave out free real time quotes and charts and demo accounts for people to trade.  This is very important, because people can now without heavily entangling themselves with the brokers firm just download the software at metaquotes.net and just get going on.  I mean this is a demo here, I mean you can place new orders.  You can put install these things called expert advisors and this is the next point.

Now, I know its an entirely new world and this is actually getting slightly into some of the programming logic, not necessarily the language.  There are tons of Meta Trader programmers out there who can code your system for you.  Everybody is looking for the magic black-box.  Now, the issue is that you can actually program an automated Forex Trading system and you can program one that is pretty solid.  You can program some that are quite solid, but maybe aren't as automated, at least they can automate certain things and some of the most profitable combinations with these automated Forex Trading systems is just partial automation, where it does something for you and gives you an alert.  And then you follow up and do the rest.  Sometimes it very difficult to encode all ideas that you would like, that are most profitable.  Now why is that?  That is because if something is very easy in the markets, its easy to target and once people catch on to that well if everybody is jumping in on one side of a trade.  Well you don’t have a market.  You have no one on the other side to take the trades and even in Forex.  So, you need to keep that in mind.  So sometimes total automation may not be the answer, but there are things you can do that are profitable in Forex Automation.

So this is an introduction Meta Trader.  So that’s an example of an alert, you can get, (I mean it’s not a real example, because it’s giving me an error message), but if you have a price alert you can get indicators.  You can get indicators to tell you when you know anything happens and something crosses certain price levels and something crosses Fibonacci, something crosses moving averages, something crosses a whatever and how handy is that?  You get an alert to your e-mail, you get a visual, an audio alert, its great.  Isn’t it a neat platform, the charting in my opinion stinks, but that’s another issue.  But in terms of automation, this is a great platform.
