Investing In Stock Market Futures
Stock market futures trading is a specific type of investment that is fairly easy to understand. Prices for futures trading are based strictly on supply and demand conditions and are not set by commodity exchanges. If the demand is high for the futures then the price goes up and if the demand is low then the price goes down.
One of the main factors that will affect the price of the futures is how much of that specific futures stock is available on the trading floor. If there is a small amount then the price can be very high, particularly if a lot of people want it.
The underlying principle is that a futures contract is traded on a future change at a future date but the price set for that supposed change is early so there is the risk that the change may not happen. Most of these changes are based on assumptions that are going to happen and there are two different results that can come out of futures trading.
There are speculators that try to make a lot of money by predicting what is going to happen in the market. They hope that what they are buying will increase in price so that they can make a killing. Basically you will purchase a commodity now with the hope that it will be sold in the future at a much higher price.
Many individuals try this type of speculation to make huge profits and this has been very popular for many years. If you purchase the commodity when there is little demand and then sell it when the demand is high then you can sell the futures for much more then you originally paid.
You can have both a hedge sale and a hedge purchase. Futures may seem a bit confusing at first but with a bit of time and education you will be on your way to understanding futures thoroughly.
